About this car
This 1967 250SE Coupe is offered on eBay by desertprivatecollection in Palm Desert, CA. The asking price is $39,950. The car is finished in Blue over Blue, an automatic gearbox, power from a 2.5 liter engine. The odometer shows 96,124 miles. The chassis number in the listing begins 111.021, the prefix of the earlier 220SEb coupe rather than a 250SE, although the car itself is a W111 coupe as titled — a buyer should check the number against the car's data plate. On a W111, check the sills and floor pans for rust and make sure the chrome and interior trim are complete, as those parts are expensive to replace.
What the photos show
- blue-grey paint looks glossy and even all round, so no repaint bill shows in these photos
- chrome bumpers, grille and window trim shine bright, so rechroming can wait
- the car is badged 250 SE at the rear, matching the listing title, so no identity surprise in the photos
- painted hubcaps show chipped, peeling paint in the close-up, so wheel refurb money is a small job to plan
- the engine bay looks dusty and grimy around the air conditioning hardware, so a detail and service are money to plan
- the trunk looks clean and black with a spare wheel in place, so no trunk repair bill shows
- can't judge the seats and interior — no interior photo in the sampled set, only views through the glass, so inspect the trim in person before paying
- can't judge the underside — no underside photo in the sampled set, so a lift inspection is money well spent
Money: at $39,950 the outside and trunk look strong, but with the interior unseen in the sampled photos the price only makes sense after an in-person trim check.
