About this car
This 1952 220A is offered on eBay by gullwingmotorcars in Astoria, NY. The asking price is $129,500. The car is finished in Ivory over Red. The listing does not state a mileage. On a car of this age, the condition of the wood, chrome and mechanical parts matters more than the odometer reading, and a car that has been stored will need recommissioning.
What the photos show
- Cream paint is smooth and glossy in all nine photos, no paintwork needed.
- Chrome grille, bumpers and whitewall trim rings are bright, no replating bill.
- The black soft top sits taut with a clean rear window, no top money to spend.
- Red leather shows honest creasing and patina but no tears, usable as-is without a retrim.
- The dash wood looks cloudy and aged on the driver's side, a wood refinish is the one cosmetic job to budget.
- Engine bay is dusty and original-looking with surface rust on the cross-brace rods, budget a proper detail and check-over.
- No underside or trunk photos, so I can't judge the floors or the spare from this gallery.
Money: at $129,500 the outside looks finished, but the tired engine bay and dash wood say presentable driver rather than fresh restoration, and the price should leave room for both.
