About this car
1957 Porsche 356A Super 1600 Coupe listed on eBay in Astoria, NY. Listing shows White exterior. Asking price $59,500 on eBay.
What the photos show
- White paint is flat and chalky with rust holes through the driver's door, rust along both sills and staining on every panel — budget for a full body restoration.
- Steel wheels are rusty and the tyres look old and flat-spotted — budget for wheels and tyres before it rolls anywhere.
- Grey seats are dusty and cobwebbed, the steering wheel rim is wrapped and worn, floors look filthy — budget for a complete interior strip and retrim.
- Dash and gauges survive under the dust in the cabin photo — budget for gauge and trim restoration, not just a clean.
- Engine bay is full of leaves and debris, canisters rusty and tin dull — budget for a full engine rebuild.
- Only 8 photos and none on a lift — can't judge the underside directly, but door and sill holes this size say hold back the biggest share of money for structural metal.
- The shell looks complete in outline with glass and trim present — that completeness is what the money buys, not condition.
Money: At $59,500 this is a full restoration project — holed doors, rusty sills and a debris-filled bay mean the restoration costs multiples of the cosmetic work, so price it as a complete 356A shell and parts.
