About this car
1959 Porsche 356A Cabriolet listed on eBay in Astoria, NY. Listing shows White exterior. Asking price $97,500 on eBay.
What the photos show
- Only six photos are in the gallery, and they show a car that needs work rather than a finished one.
- The white paint looks flat and dull with scuffs and chipping at the bottom of the nose, so paint correction or a repaint is a real cost to allow for.
- There is no front bumper fitted in the photos and the brightwork is minimal and dull, so sourcing and fitting brightwork is money to budget.
- The grey seats are creased and tired and the carpets look dirty and worn, so an interior freshening at minimum, and possibly a retrim, is coming.
- The dash and gauges look aged and dusty in the cockpit shot, consistent with the rest, so allow for cleaning and small repairs there too.
- The engine bay looks grubby and aged, with a bright blue fan shroud that stands out as non-standard, so budget a thorough check and tidy of the flat-four.
- Can't judge the soft top — it is folded down in every photo, so its fabric condition and cost are unknown.
- Can't judge the underside — no lift photo is shown, and on a 356 the floors decide whether this is a driver or a restoration.
Money: at $97,500 the photos show an honest but tired cabriolet — dull paint, missing front bumper, worn cabin, grubby bay — so the price only works as project money, with top and underside still unjudged.
