About this car
1972 Porsche 911S Targa listed on eBay in Astoria, NY. Listing shows Blue exterior. Asking price $57,500 on eBay.
What the photos show
- The five photos show a derelict Targa, and every area needs full restoration money.
- The blue paint is faded, peeling and blistered, with heavy rust breaking through both sills, the door bottoms and around the arches, so this is metalwork and a full repaint, not a polish.
- Panels are dented and the rear bumper area is damaged and incomplete, so body parts sourcing is part of the bill.
- The cabin is filthy, with torn, debris-covered seats and a stripped, rusty floor area, so a complete retrim is coming.
- The dash and wheel are present but aged and dirty, so gauges and dash will need restoration along with everything else.
- The engine bay is corroded and full of leaves and debris, with rust on the fan housing and tinware, so the flat-six needs a full recommissioning at minimum.
- The Targa roof panel appears missing over the cabin, so roof parts are another sourcing cost.
- Can't judge the underside from a lift — no such photo is shown — but the visible sill and floor rust says the structure needs expert inspection before any money moves.
Money: at $57,500 this is pure project pricing for a 911S — the photos show rust, a stripped cabin and a derelict bay, so the restoration will cost multiples of the ask and the price only works as a rare-model core.
