Third instance of this pattern (records 337, 376, 379) - looks like a Hemmings taxonomy quirk for R107 convertibles. Left unresolved. |

About this car
Hemmings listing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Smoke Silver Metallic over Brazil Brown leather; brown soft top and body-color removable hard top; ABS, Zebrano trim. Note the model conflict flagged in this car's notes: the Hemmings title and the seller's description name different models, and the car is filed under its title model until the seller's page settles it.
What the photos show
- Title mismatch: the listing says 380SEC coupe, but every photo shows a 380SL roadster and the trunk badge reads 380 SL, so confirm what is actually being sold before paying.
- Champagne paint is glossy and even all around, so no respray money needed on looks.
- There is rust bubbling at the left rear sill by the jack point, so budget for sill metal work, not just a touch-up.
- Chrome bumpers and grille are bright and straight, so no chrome bill.
- Brown soft top is up in the rear view and looks tight with a clear rear window, so no top replacement seen.
- Brown seats and door cards look clean with no tears in the sampled photos, so no reupholstery cost.
- Dash top looks uncracked and the burl wood console is glossy, saving a dash or wood bill.
- Engine bay is complete and fairly tidy with the big air cleaner in place, so no obvious engine-bay neglect to pay for.
- Flat-face wheels are clean and tires have tread, so no immediate tire spend.
- Underside is not shown in the sampled photos, so I can't judge how far the sill rust goes from photos.
Money: At $14,500 the glossy paint and clean brown interior fit a 380SL price, but the car in the photos is not the 380SEC in the title, and the sill rust needs pricing in before any deal.
