Condition: The Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 4.5L represented the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz engineering for the American market in the early 1970s, combining the marque's renowned craftsmanship and understated luxury with sophisticated mechanicals and the effortless performance of a large-displacement V-8. Introduced to the United States for 1972, the 4.5-liter V-8 expanded upon the already highly regarded W109 300SEL platform, which had established itself as one of Mercedes-Benz's most advanced and desirable automobiles. Distinguished by its long-wheelbase architecture, independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, exceptional construction, and standard air suspension, the 300SEL offered a level of ride quality and engineering sophistication rarely encountered in the luxury sedan market of its era.
