About this car
1973 Volkswagen Westfalia listed on eBay in Kennewick, WA. Listing shows 55,308 miles shown, Manual transmission, White exterior. Current bid $250 on eBay.
What the photos show
- White paint is even and fairly glossy on the big flat sides, with panels straight — no full paint budget, but there are rust scabs and scrapes along the lower door and sill edges to budget for.
- Chrome hubcaps are mirror-bright and the painted steel wheels are clean — no wheel money.
- Tires show deep tread in the close-ups — no tire spend from these photos.
- The pop-top is only ever shown closed and its roof and luggage rack are grey with grime — budget a proper clean, and the canvas can't be judged at all because it is never raised.
- Front seats wear floral and fleece covers, so the seat trim underneath can't be judged; the dash itself is complete and uncracked-looking with all gauges in place.
- Camper interior is all there — sink unit, tables, wood cabinets and mustard bench seats — but the seat fabric is stained and dark with wear, so budget upholstery cleaning or recovering.
- One underside photo shows heavy surface rust across the corrugated floor and frame rails with peeling coating — budget rust treatment underneath, and probe for thin metal in person.
- No engine bay photos in the sample, only a chassis-number stamp — can't judge the engine, hold back money for that inspection.
Money: at a $250 start the tidy body, bright hubcaps and complete camper kit are the value; the rusty underside, stained camper seats and the unseen engine and pop-top canvas are the must-see risks.
