About this car
1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible listed on eBay in Palmetto, FL. Listing shows 5 miles shown, Manual transmission. Asking price $12,995 on eBay.
What the photos show
- Metallic burnt-orange paint is deep, glossy and even on every panel in shot after shot, body lines straight — no paint budget from these photos.
- Trim is minimal by design — no chrome bumpers are fitted, the valances are body-coloured and clean, and the bright sill trim and headlight rings show no damage — no trim spend.
- Black top goes up and down in the sample: up, the fabric looks mottled and faded with pale blotching, though the glass rear window is clear — budget for a deep clean or dye before pricing a new top.
- Polished eight-spoke alloy wheels are clean on all four corners and tires show good tread — no wheel or tire spend.
- Engine bay is tidy and complete with bright yellow plug leads and an aftermarket carburettor; tinware is painted and no oil mess shows — no detailing spend, though running condition can't be judged from a photo.
- Front trunk is fully carpeted in clean black carpet with the washer bottle in place — no trunk tidy-up spend.
- Interior never gets a close-up — black seats and headrests only show from outside with the top down, so wear, dash and carpets can't be judged.
- No underside photos in the sample — can't judge it, hold back money for that inspection; one sampled image is just a dealer advert card, not the car.
Money: the paint, wheels and tidy engine bay back the $12,995 ask; the faded, blotchy top fabric is the main visible spend, and the interior close-up and underside are still must-see items.
