About this car
Hemmings listing in Baiting Hollow, NY. Two owners, 28-year current ownership; original paint and interior. Note the model conflict flagged in this car's notes: the Hemmings title and the seller's description name different models, and the car is filed under its title model until the seller's page settles it.
What the photos show
- the photos show a W123 sedan badged 300D Turbo Diesel, not the W126 300SD in the title, confirm what is actually being sold before anything else
- the car's own books in the trunk photos are 300D Turbo Diesel manuals, they match the photos, not the title
- cream paint is dull with rust spots at the lower doors and front fender, budget rust repair
- the grille has broken slats and the right taillight lens has a hole in it, budget trim parts
- New York plate ARB-1855 shows front and rear, the car in the photos is consistent
- tan seats and door panels look clean and un-torn, no retrim money showing
- the dash wears a fitted cover with visible seams, the original dash underneath can't be judged
- odometer shows roughly 228,000 miles, high miles for the money
- sunroof panel and headliner look clean, a plus at this price
- only a battery close-up of the engine bay is in the sample, can't judge the engine overall
- no underside photos in the sampled set, can't judge the floors
Money: at $5,000 the mismatch comes first, a 300D is worth different money than a 300SD, so the price only makes sense once the seller confirms the car is the W123 in the photos.
